How your money has been spent

The Nancy Oldfield Trust costs over £180,000 annually to run. We receive no statutory government grants and rely solely on support and grants from individuals, charitable trusts and companies and fundraising events.

We are a special school in Lincolnshire and have been using Nancy Oldfield since 1996. Our pupils absolutely love the experience Nancy Oldfield offer, staff are very professional, polite and exceptional people and support our pupils in a way that makes the experience magical.

We benefit from the Bursary, and without the bursary funding many of our pupils would never otherwise have an opportunity to enjoy the activities we are offered at Nancy Oldfield Trust, which for most of them is a chance in a lifetime experience.

It's not easy having a person with disabilities in your family where is a safe place you can take them? Will they enjoy the experience? Will they be able to have some kind of independence? Will they feel achievement? By chance we found the Nancy Oldfield trust, they are amazing and yes, our daughter Lucy got all the above. The staff are friendly supportive and caring, Lucy went out on a sailing boat with Andrew, the chair they used held her in a supportive position and kept her up straight, we followed in the rescue boat, Lucy had the freedom of doing something without Mum and Dad being with her. Lucy loves it. We are so lucky to have found such an amazing place, thank you to them all. Patricia
Sprowston Community Hub
In my role as a support worker I have supported many people at the Nancy Oldfield trust to Access the Norfolk Broads over the last 20 years.

The Nancy Oldfield Trust has made so many activities available to our service users that they would not be able to access otherwise, including sailing, canoeing and birdwatching on the cruisers. They have also had a try at steering the cruisers which many had never done before.

I also support a group of our service users to do voluntary work in the gardens at the trust which they always look forward to whatever the weather.

I asked some of my Service Users what they liked best about the trust:

Dominic said “I find everyone to be friendly and I like the Birdwatching from the cruisers and love the sailing as well.”
Tony said “I like the cruisers and love chatting to the Nancy Oldfield volunteers along the way.”
Andrew said “I really love the gardening at the trust and also going to How Hill on the cruisers.”

So, what they have all agreed on was that they really enjoy coming to the Nancy Oldfield Trust and participating in the many activities available; also they always find that the staff and volunteers are very friendly.

I had an amazing experience which is hard to find the words to describe. Being able to move around in my wheelchair without being locked in one place was a delight. The boat is so spacious, and the view was perfect with the high floor. The design has been well thought out and an unexpected bonus to sit out on deck at the back - truly wonderful. Kate
