Volunteer Opportunities

We offer both water-based and off-water volunteer roles. Water-based roles require physical fitness, while off-water opportunities include maintenance, administration, gardening, event support, and media work. Opportunities are available year-round.

Paddlers

🚣‍♂️ Volunteer Canoeist Wanted – Share Your Skills on the Water
Location: Nancy Oldfield Trust, Neatishead, Norfolk

Do you love canoeing and want to help others discover the freedom of gliding across the water?

The Nancy Oldfield Trust is looking for an experienced canoeist to join our passionate volunteer team. You’ll be helping people with disabilities and disadvantages enjoy safe and empowering adventures on the Norfolk Broads. Recognised Paddling Qualification desirable, however full training will be provided to the right candidate.

*Your Role Includes:

  • Leading or assisting canoeing sessions for individuals and groups
  • Encouraging and guiding participants with patience and care
  • Promoting fun, confidence, and inclusion out on the water

*What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong canoeing skills and knowledge of water safety (qualifications welcome)
  • A friendly, encouraging approach and experience working with the public
  • Availability throughout the year – we paddle in all seasons! The highest demand for the paddling session  is between April to October.
  • A commitment  of a minimum of 12 session per year (subject to demand).

Senior Instructor Sailors

We are looking for experienced and competent Senior Instructor Sailor who holds an RYA Senior Instructor certificate, who can demonstrate the necessary skills and can commit to a stated day on a regular basis. A good knowledge of the broads, the area and the wildlife would be advantageous. Our visitors are from a diverse range of backgrounds and have a wide range of needs, good interpersonal skills required.
